Hummingbird detail

Hummingbird on the wing

Been working on this drawing for over a week. The full image is much larger, but I found a scratch brush that I can adjust the angle on the stroke so that it matches the angle I want to sketch with. Finished the hummingbird with it.

Here’s a try at showing the detail on line. I really like the base of the wing. And the cross hatched chest.

Most excellent guide to grasslands

Last weekend I attended a “nature lecture” and the speaker made an interesting point: That it is more important to save and maintain the habitat then the users of that habitat. Because as long as the habitat remains the creatures that use it can return.

So when I found this Guide to Grasslands and had a look, I knew it belonged in my off grid treats section. Bernie, at earthtramper.ca was kind enough to allow me to post a link

This is an excellent book that gives a brilliant introduction to grasslands management. And while it says it's for southern Ontario the ideas and practices could be adapted for a wide variety of locations.
